My New Cottage Kitchen!

I am so delighted the way my kitchen looks now!!! I just wanted to do another post now that we have all the glass knobs and drawer pulls finally up!!! My sweet and talented husband installed all the drawer pulls and knobs for me! I found the glass knobs on ebay and the drawer pulls at Lowes. Since the drawer pulls were being discontinued, they only cost 96 cents apiece!
I can't believe how much paint can change the way a room looks! I feel like I have a brand new custom kitchen!!!


I think my kitchen looks so cheerful and bright now! It's such a nice way to start out the morning with a cup of coffee! Can you smell the bacon?


The tract home look. As you can see there's a huge difference!


I added some new battenburg curtains. The bread box is where I keep the phone, answering machine, cell phone, etc.
I like to keep all of that stuff hidden.


I have a happy kitchen now!

I really like displaying teacups this way. It's important to be sure to use tea cup hooks with safety latches. That way if one gets bumped, it won't fall off and break. (A lesson I learned the hard way)!

Some Yard Sale Finds

My husband and I enjoy going to yard sales on Saturday mornings. We usually get some coffee first, and then drive around the lake community. We never come home disappointed. I have found some amazing things! One of my favorite finds was a chandelier that is now hanging in our bedroom! Last Saturday we found:


7 Wedgwood plates, $2.00. I think they are so darling and I can use them with my other dishes, too!


Antique china cabinet, $50.00. I've really been wanting to get a small china cabinet for quite awhile. Of course, I will be painting it white and maybe even adding some glass knobs! I'll have to do a before and after post. I think it will look really cute when it's finished!!!


Louis Vuitton bag, $4.00. Now I don't know for sure if this is authentic and it probably isn't, but it is real leather and definitely not like the cheap knock-off ones we bought in China. Anyways, I love it! After my girls saw it, they said next time their coming with us!

Three Year "Gotcha Day"!

Three years ago today our lives changed forever. After spending two days with our adoption group touring Beijing, we woke up at 4:30 AM to catch an early flight to Guizhou. Guizhou is located in southwest China and is one of the most beautiful provinces in all of China, but also the poorest. After we got to our hotel, we learned that all of the little girls in our group would be coming in just a few short hours!


Jaime, Jim, me and Josh are anxiously waiting for her to arrive!


We learned that the foster mom was the one who brought her to us. She had loved and taken care of her for the past year and it was very hard for her to let Jaclyn go.

She cried a lot at first, but really settled down when Jim held her. She was very quiet for the rest of the night. I'm sure she was afraid and wondered who all these strange people were.


Our first meal with Jaclyn was pizza at the hotel restaurant.


After dinner, I gave her a bath and she ate some cheerios. I still can't believe how precious she is!


It's hard to believe that three years have passed since Jaclyn joined our family. So this evening we had pizza and watched her adoption video and celebrated the day we became a forever family! We are truly blessed!!!
