"Twenty-Six Miles Across the Sea...

...Santa Catalina is a waitin' for me"!
We just took a fun day trip to the beautiful island of Catalina! Here's a photo of the "Catalina Flyer" we rode to Catalina Island! It has a catamaran hull, so is quite fast and smooth! The trip takes only 75 minutes to reach the island from Balboa. As you can see, it turned out to be a very cool and cloudy day!
Arriving in the quaint little town of Avalon!
One of the first things you notice when arriving in the harbor is the Casino. It was built in 1929 by William Wrigley (of the chewing gum). It is a popular landmark and tourist attraction and is actually a movie theater, museum and ballroom, not a casino!
Here's a view of the main street from the pier. There's lots of cute little shops to browse!
One of our favorite places to eat is at the "Fish and Chips" on the pier! This is where we ate lunch. Their fish and chips are the best!
We relaxed on the beach for awhile before heading back.

We really had a wonderful day! On our trip back to the mainland, we were escorted by a school of dolphins! It was not easy trying to take pictures because they were so quick!
Jaclyn said this was her best day ever!

Blessings,

Hi Janet Sweetie...
Oh I simply adore this post. Catalina Island? I have never been there, but it looks so wonderful. You go out there on a large catamaran, now that looks like so much fun, and a nice 75 minute trip out and having dolphins swim by on the way back. Lovely. Oh how lovely.

That fish and chips place looks wonderful, love fish and chips.

The faces of the kids is what sold me. Were they having fun or what?

Living here in Phoenix, we may just find ourselves in the California area one day, and this is definitely going on the list of places I want to see. Thank you for the beautiful share sweet friend.

This is the Miracle Weekend makeover. I am one of the hosting sites. For every comment left, Guideposts magazine will pay a dollar, to the next cancer makeover patient. Please stop by and read the story about 9 year old Charlie, and bless me with a comment. Out goal between the 4 or 5 blogs is 5,000. I know we can do it. I would appreciate it, if you pass the word around to as many friends as possible.

Thank you sweetie for a wonderful post. I love it. Have a glorious weekend. Country hugs from Phoenix, Sherry

Hi Janet, this looks like a wonderful day. Love the dolphins leading your boat. I've never been to Catalina Island. But my Dad used to live in San Diego and they have the most glorious wether there! I have certainly heard great things about that island, and your pictures of it make it look like a gorgeous place.
