The other evening, my sister Jennifer and her family invited our family over for dinner. It was delicious as always, but the dessert was to die for! She found the recipe for theses yummy cupcakes on Pinterest! Here's the recipe for Caramel Frappicino Cupcakes!

Disney Days

Since we got our Disneyland passes for Christmas, I've been to Disneyland four times! When you have a pass, you don't feel like you have to rush and go on every ride. Instead, we just like to stroll around, have some coffee, go on a few rides and just relax. (Maybe that's because we're getting old)!
The last time we were there, our older kids went off to go on the roller coaster type rides, so Jim and I took Jaclyn on all the rides in Fantasyland. I hadn't been on the Teacups in years!
The Storybook Ride!
Wish I could live here!
Jaclyn and Alice
This is where I use to work. I even met my husband in here! In fact, Jim asked me out on our first date standing right in front of The Golden Horseshoe!
Some of my Disney Kids!
Disneyland has a lot of good memories for us!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I finally jumped on the bandwagon with Pinterest, and I'm glad I did! This is a collage I put together while browsing through all the Valentine eye candy!
Last night, my two oldest daughters Jaime and Jessica planned a girls night out for their college group at church. They had a progessive dinner and ended up at our house for the dessert and movie (Sense and Sensibility)! I didn't mind staying out of the way and upstairs, because my husband and I watched two hours of Downton Abbey on PBS. Yes, I hate to admit it, but we're hooked!
Would anyone like a chocolate covered strawberry or a yummy cupcake?
Wishing you all a lovely Valentine's Day!

A Vintage Romance

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share this sweet photo of my grandparents Otto and Bernice. It was taken on their wedding day June 11, 1924! They were quite an amazing couple, to say the least! They built their own home and had the most beautiful garden! My grandfather had a real sense of humor and would always make us laugh! Sadly, my grandpa passed away when I was a teenager. My grandma was raised on a farm and taught me so many things! She was a talented seamstress and is the one who taught me how to sew! The dress form in my previous post was named after her. Her first name was Viola, but I'm told she never liked that name and always went by her middle name, Bernice. She lived to be almost 100 years old!
This is their actual wedding invitation. My mom said that they were very much in love and had a wonderful marriage. My mom still holds onto some of their love letters and he would always sign his name "Daddy". I think that was an affectionate way of saying, he would always take care of her.
Since I just adore their wedding photo, it inspired me to make this vintage collage.
I made this next collage using some vintage postcards, lace and sheet music! They were both so much fun to make and I just love this vintage look!

She's Going to the Ball....

the Dress Form Ball, that is, at The Polka Dot Closet!
Miss Viola Bernice is all dressed up and ready to step out in style! Her vintage attire is the finest of thrift store treasures! This lovely skirt is a white tulle petticoat from a wedding gown of long ago! Her pink sweater with silver sequins and beads show her impeccable taste of the finer things in life!
A little hat, gloves, some pearls and rhinestones will make Viola's charming outfit complete!
Here, Miss Viola is ready for her excursion abroad! After the ball, maybe she'll travel to Paris or Rome! Her steamer trunk is packed full with her finest vintage clothing and millinery!
When Viola is not off gallivanting, attending a ball or jaunting off to Paris, you will find her right here residing in my stairway landing!
There's still time to attend the ball! It is open until the 14th! One could always be fashionably late! Hope to see you there!
