Strawberry Picking and Some Pie!

Jaclyn loves strawberries and when our neighbors asked her if she would like to come over and pick some.... she was there! Jaclyn just lost her two front teeth and it's so cute to hear her talk now because she speaks with a little whistle!

After we picked some strawberries, Jaclyn and I decided to make a pie, but not just any pie .... a Strawberry Rhubarb Pie!

Jaclyn helped me roll the pie dough and the little star cut-outs were added to hide a few mistakes! Here's the recipe I like to use when making this yummy pie!

Grandma's Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Be sure to place a cookie sheet underneath the pie when baking, because it can run over! I forgot and now have to clean my oven!

This is my absolute favorite pie and I only wish I could share a piece with you!

A Petal Pillow!

I've been seeing these darling flower petal pillows around blogland and have even been seeing them in stores lately! I really wanted to try making one myself and found a wonderful tutorial at Cluck, Cluck Sew! You can find it here!

I think it turned out really cute and like how it adds some dimension to a pillow grouping!

I purchased 1/2 yard felt from Joann's for the petals, which was way more than I actually needed! I sewed the felt petals onto some Osnaburg fabric I had leftover from another project, but you could use any fabric you like! This was a really fun project and was not too difficult to make! It took less than an hour from start to finish and I think I might just make another!

A French Dinner!

 I have two sisters Jennifer and Robbie. We all really like to cook and prepare special meals for our families. We also like to get together along with our husbands about every month or so at one of our homes for food, fellowship and fun! The other night it was my sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Mark's turn to host everyone for dinner. Jennifer prepared Beef Bourguignon using Julia Child's recipe and it was absolutely delicious! 

For dessert, she made Creme Brulee!
Jennifer even used her mini blow torch to caramelize the sugar! I must say, Robbie and I were quite impressed!

It was so yummy!

Jennifer used Julia's recipe for the dessert, as well. She has been cooking her way through Julia Child's cookbook "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," kind of like the movie "Julie and Julia"! Here is the recipe for Creme Brulee!

 I must say... Jennifer has now raised the bar for Robbie and myself on our next dinner get togethers!

Easter Blessings!

I just want to wish everyone a wonderful Easter! 

We're all getting ready around here for our Easter celebration! I had so much fun making this little lamb cake!

This will be our special centerpiece for Easter dinner! 

My daughter Jessica is taking a floral design class and this is her most recent creation! She made it special just for Easter! I think she has a lot of creative talent!
