Thanksgiving Blessings

Wishing everyone a very blessed Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for all of you my blogging friends. I truly enjoy visiting all of your homes and seeing what everyone is up to. I love seeing all of your projects and favorite recipes! You are all a blessing to me!

I'm so thankful for my family and especially having everyone home and under the same roof, at least for a few nights is truly a blessing. We will all be celebrating Thanksgiving in the mountains at my sister Robbie's charming mountain home.

Good Goods!

A few weekends ago, I was able to get away with my husband on a business trip to Central California. On the way back, we stopped at Good Goods in Visalia. I had heard about this place before and was very curious to check it out! It's located out on a country road right in the middle of an orchard! Needless to say, I was not disappointed! This place is so amazing and I loved every square inch of it!

This store is located in a two-story Victorian home! The owners had it moved to this property years ago and rebuilt it themselves. There is just so much detail and I couldn't take it all in. 

I just love this farmhouse kitchen! 

 

All of the many rooms are full of white painted furniture and vintage treasures. They were even featured in the November 2006 issue of Romantic Homes!

They have lots of beautiful silk flowers and handmade quilts!

This is the front porch.
They were just starting to decorate for Christmas. Now, I would sure love to come back and see it all decked out for the Holidays!

The barn was also moved here piece by piece to this property and rebuilt! It's also an antique store and full of industrial type furniture.

Here's a peek inside the barn. It's over 4,000 square feet packed full of one of a kind finds! If you're ever going through Visalia, you should stop by. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Vintage Radio Cabinet

The other day, I found this antique radio cabinet at our local antique mall. My sweet husband said I could pick something out for my recent birthday! I think he had in mind something a little bit smaller and cheaper, but we both agreed that this needed to come home with us.

I have seen vintage radio cabinets out in blogland, but had never found one at an antique store that wasn't priced way too much! I think they are just so interesting and especially like all the cabinets and drawers for displaying stuff! 

At first, I planned on painting it white, but I'm not sure about that now. I think I'll just keep it this way for the time being. Of course, there isn't a radio in it anymore, but I have to wonder where this has been and what radio shows someone once listened to long, long ago.

Birthday Week!

Happy "21" Birthday, Jessica!

Last week we celebrated four birthdays in our family! It was such a whirlwind of cakes, presents, cakes and more presents!!! We started out with my son Jimmy's birthday. He turned 14 and is getting so big and is now officially taller than me! Jimmy announced he would rather have a giant chocolate chip cookie instead of birthday cake. That was fine with me because it would mean one less cake that week! I just made a batch of cookie dough and then spread it all out on a cookie sheet!

My birthday was the very next day! I woke up to my kids singing "Happy Birthday" and bringing me breakfast in bed! My husband took me out for lunch and then let me pick something out from our local antique mall! I found the most beautiful and amazing... well, all I can say is that it deserves a post all of its own, so I'll share about it next time! By the way, my cake was German chocolate made by my sweet daughter, Jaime!

 The day after my birthday was Jessica's birthday! As you can see in the picture above she is now 21 years old! (Please ignore my messy kitchen)! We weren't able to celebrate her birthday until the weekend when she came home from college. But, then that was Jaime's birthday! 

I made an ice cream cake for Jaime. 

Now, I know there are much better tutorials out there on how to make an ice cream cake, but it's really pretty simple to do. Soften ice cream and spread in cake pans lined with plastic wrap. Freeze and then the ice cream will lift right out of the pans. Keep in freezer until ready and then use the cake pans to bake the cake.

Assemble quickly and frost!

Having three kids born at the same time of year and especially next to my birthday was definitely not planned! I'm not that crazy! But, I think I am crazy now after this whirlwind week of birthdays!
